I’ve got one!
I’ve always wanted to have my reception like the Mad Tea Party from Alice in Wonderland. Do you have any inspiration boards for different coloured lanterns, “painting the roses red” or anything that comes to mind? I have a whole folder of images I should put together one day :)

When planning for a Mad Tea Party reception the most important thing to do is set the mood. If you have no clue where to begin, you can check out my Alice in Wonderland Inspiration Board.

Your decor should reflect whimsy, fantasy and, of course, wonder! I recommend bright, bold/neon colors. Paper lanterns seem to transport your guests down the rabbit hole!

I love paper poms. I think they look so bright and cheery and remind me of the kinds of flowers Alice would have encountered in Wonderland. Martha Stewart has a DIY tutorial for these lovely little poms that you can check out here. 

The mad tea party in the classic story is an adventure—there’s no telling what might be in one of the tea pots! Mimic this idea: fill teapots with vibrant flowers, pinwheels, lollypops, or ribbon wands and place them at the center of your tables. 

The TomKat Studio, one of my FAVORITE party blogs, has a whole printable set based on Alice in Wonderland including these adorable “eat me” and “drink me” party circles. These make great favors! Print them off and tie them around the neck of a brightly colored soda.

If you’d like the Red Queen to make an appearance at your Mad Tea Party, integrate playing cards into your decor. Lace cards together with brightly colored twine to create an adorable bunting flag. 

Prints are also an easy way to contribute decor to a theme. I love this adorable “We’re All Mad Here” print found on Etsy. 

Finally, top your reception off with incredible desserts, like this Topsy-Turvey cake or these adorable sugar sculpted cupcakes.
